It was Saturday morning, October 13, 2007 and I had come to visit Josef in College Station for Baylor's fall break weekend. We "decided" to go on a walk of A&M's campus that morning and then study at the library afterward. Josef took a little while getting ready, but I just assumed he was really making sure he didn't forget a book or something (little did I know :). We had been walking around for awhile and I started getting a little tired, a little glisteny, and a little ready to sit in the library for a few hours, but Josef pressed to show me one last place. As we walked in front of the Academic Building he asked me if I remembered him telling me about "this tree..." For the life of me, I COULD NOT remember what on earth he was talking about, so I reluctantly told him "Noooo..." He seemed a little down as he said, "OH...well, there's this tree and it's kind've a big deal on campus." As we got closer he motioned me to go under it, to which I responded, "Are there bugs in there?" As we walked forward, I could tell he was really excited so I began to compliment every possible positive attribute I could think of for a tree - it was so big and tall, it's leaves were so green, wow, it even has branches going all the way to the ground! We sat on the bench, and after I had gotten up to read a sign in an effort to break what I could tell was for some reason a "twiddle your thumbs, sooooo..." moment, I came back to a box sitting on the bench that I had made Josef a while before. He said to open it, my heart skipped a little wondering what could be in it, and yes, there it was, a piece of paper. I was so fortunate to read a paragraph all about the history of this lovely tree! As I unfolded the paper, however, to read a poem, a certain question ;), and gaze at a beautiful diamond ring my whole outlook on the day, and our future together, changed. I said YES, and 1 year later, here I am in College Station, walking by that tree every day as I go to class at Texas A&M University, married to a man more wonderful than I ever could have dreamed. All Glory be to the Lord for moving mountains and doing the impossible to make our lives just like the sun shining through the top of the century oak tree's branches...bright and beautiful*
